Basile To Coach Argentina For the Second Time
After the departure of Jose Pekerman, the Argentinean Soccer Association was looking for a replacement. Pekerman took Argentina to the World Cup 2006 quarterfinals and was considered an excellent coach. Many people thought that he was almost irreplaceable, but news come from Argentina that a replacement is found.
The new National Coach for Argentina is Alfio Basile. This will be Basile`s second time in the position. Basile is currently the coach of Argentina`s strongest club, Boca Juniors, and had previously coached Argentina from 1990 to 1994. Boca Juniors is ruling the top Argentinean league for a long time, and hopefully Basile could improve the national team of Argentina as well.
"Obviously, I`m very proud to return to coaching the national team," he said. "I will join them with great enthusiasm because of the great number of top-notch players." Basile has yet to sign with the national team, but there are only a few technical details to resolve and Basile will become the new Argentinean Coach.
