Adidas Becomes NBA`s Official Apparel Provider

The German show maker, Adidas, will be the NBA and WNBA official uniform provider for the coming 11 years. Adidas signed an 11-year deal making it the league`s official apparel provider. The deal includes providing products for the WNBA and NBA Development League. The deal will become effective starting with the 2006-07 season.

Adidas, which has been a marketing partner with the NBA since 2002, said the deal came as a result of last year`s acquisition of Reebok International Ltd., which had been the NBA`s uniform and apparel provider since 2001. The value of the deal wasn`t immediately disclosed by Adidas or the NBA, but shares of Adidas were up nearly 1.5 percent to $205.68 in Frankfurt trading after it was announced. Reebok will continue to be a global marketing partner of the NBA and will keep its ability to create NBA branded footwear.

In addition to the apparel, Adidas and the NBA will also collaborate by increasing the number of Adidas products at the NBA Store in New York. The company said it and the league would create an in-store Adidas-NBA concept shop that will serve as a prototype for future stores worldwide.
