LSU Baseball Team Remains Positive
After loosing five consecutive games for the first time in six years, the LSU baseball team still keeps its hope high. After losing four of their first six SEC weekend series, including three-game sweeps at the hands of South Carolina and Ole Miss, LSU must probably win all four remaining series to have a chance to play in the SEC tournament.
Senior outfielder Quinn Stewart said the Tigers believe they can turn things around in time, and he said it doesn?t matter if nobody else does.
?We?re the only ones who need to believe it,? Stewart said. ?We?re the ones wearing the uniform. As long as we believe it in the locker room, that?s all that matters. If we have to reschedule, we will,? Laval said, ?but I?d really like to get this game in now. We need to play and get our bats going and find another pitcher or two.?
With usual midweek starter Michael Bonura nursing a sore elbow and closer Chase Dardar experiencing tenderness in his shoulder, Laval said senior right-hander Chris Cahill (0-0, 3.60) will start against the Privateers. Cahill has pitched five relief innings in four appearances this season, allowing four walks and striking out five. Laval said he plans to use several other pitchers tonight. The Privateers have scored 49 runs during their four-game winning streak. LSU has given up 61 runs during its five-game losing streak. ?We keep telling them to focus on the positive and ignore the negative,? Stewart said. ?We?re trying to keep everybody focused. We still have a chance to get to the SEC tournament and get into a regional.
