Future Not So Dark for Darko

Darko Milicic played well for his national team during the summer. According to al reports Darko seems much more polished and aggressive on the court. But will it do anything to increase his playing time in Detroit? Pistons executives are expecting great things from the third year player who the second pick in the 2003 draft.

Darko has a new coach in Flip Saunders, which could bode well for the young center. Saunders is known for being a creative coach. Remember he is the one who moved Kevin Garnet to the small forward position. The Pistons still have a hole at the backup small forward spot, so maybe Darko could see some minutes there. Much like Garnet he?s 7-1, who can shoot from outside and post up smaller opponents.

The fact that the Pistons haven?t made any moves during the off season also bodes well for Milicic. However, if Darko remains behind Antonio McDyess in the rotation and doesn?t get quality playing time this season also, I believe that the Pistons will trade him before the season is over. If you?re not going to play the guy, then why keep him?
