Redskin Will Assist Hurricane Katrina Victims
Washington Redskins linebacker and concerned citizen, LaVar Arrington, joins the Hurricane Katrina relief effort committing to assist Washington, D.C.-based victims with essentials by providing the approximately 215 displaced evacuees with a shopping trip to Wal-Mart. Arrington will sponsor the shopping spree with an initial commitment of $40,000 to meet the immediate needs of hurricane Katrina victims. The shopping spree is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the Richmond Highway Wal-Mart in Alexandria, VA.
Although the American Red Cross will provide some of the basic necessities such as tooth brushes, soap and deodorant, Arrington?s sponsored shopping trip to Wal-Mart will allow the displaced evacuees to obtain items such as irons, storage compartments, linens, shoes, clothes, and other household items. In the wake of rescues and relocations, Arrington?s relief effort will also include sponsored outings to area attractions and restaurants, donated items and services from local businesses and Washington Redskins paraphernalia.
Organized by dmg management LLC, a sports and entertainment marketing firm based in Washington, DC, Arrington?s commitment will be ongoing in an effort to acclimate the new residents to the D.C. area. "We wanted to utilize our resources and network to facilitate getting our fellow citizens what they need in moving forward with their lives," states dmg management LLC President Dawn-Marie Gray.
