Magloire Traded to Bucks
Yesterday, we discussed the possibility that the Hornets might be exploring a trade for center Jamal Magloire. Despite vigorously denying trade rumors involving Magloire, the Hornets have traded Magloire to the Miluakee Bucks. In exchange for Magloire the Bucks sent Desmond Mason, a 2006 first round draft choice and cash considerations to the Hornets.
As I see it, Milwaukee got the better end of the deal by far. They got rid of the logjam they have at the small forward spot, and they have managed to acquire a former All-Star center, at the prime of his career. The question that begs asking is why would the Bucks trade for a starting center when they have already picked one as the first overall choice in the 2005 draft.
Andrew Bogut was projected as the Bucks starting center this year. When you get a player with the first pick of the draft, you expect him to be more than a backup. The only way for him to develop and improve is by getting quality minutes as a starter. I guess that after seeing Andrew Bogut struggle in the preseason versus physical players, the Bucks didn?t feel that he is ready to play major minutes quite yet.
