No Deal for Nene
Negotiations between the Denver Nuggets and the Brazilian forward seem to be going nowhere. Either that the Nuggets are willing to risk losing him next year, or Kiki has plans of trading him by the deadline. Teams will rather do a sign and trade for Nene, since they?ll be able to cut their payroll making room for him.
However, the Nuggets will prefer moving Nene without striking a sign and trade. This way they can take back a contract equal to his and since Nene is still signed to his rookie contract, it won?t add too much to their payroll. Denver?s best option is to trade him now instead of waiting to the off-season.
In the summer teams like Atlanta and Chicago will be able to make him generous offers, ones that the Nuggets who won?t be able to match. Many GMs regard the young Brazilian as one of the best unrealized talents in his position. The fact that he can play both center and power forward make him even more desirable.
