Hornets Deny Magloire Trade Rumors
Jamal Magloire is the biggest commodity at the disposal of the Hornets. Even though the Hornets shopped Magloire on June, they insist he is not on the trading block and that they have no intention of trading the All-Star center. Even before Hurricane Katerina hit, the Hornets were trying to cut corners anywhere they could. It?s definitely foreseeable that the Hornets will peruse trading him as the deadline approaches.
Magloire has already asked the Hornets to trade him once, although he hasn?t made any demands during the off-season. True centers are hard to come by these days. So why are the Hornets interested in trading one of the best young centers in the league? It?s not like they are growing on trees.
The Hornets are trying to trim down their payroll, given that the team won?t be able to count on ticket sale. Plus, the Hornets aren?t going anywhere this season or the next. Currently, Magloire is their highest paid player which makes him an obvious choice. The Hornets are under the cap as it is however by trading Magloire they can go 25-30 million under, which will give them a lot of financial wiggle room in the future.
