Boykins Out of Rotation in Denver

After the Nuggets spent $24 million to sign Earl Watson over the summer, where does that leave Earl Boykins? Out of the rotation it seems. The Nuggets are set at the point with Andre Miller and newly acquired Watson. With more than 80$ million invested in the point guard position, it?s not likely that Boykins will see a lot of minutes at this position.

At the two guard spot they?ll have Voshon Lenard and the re-signed DerMarr Johnson, which also creates a log-jam at that spot as well. Unless they plan to trade Miller, why did they go ahead and spend so much money for a backup point guard? Miller has more than 45 million remaining on his contract which makes him hard to trade.

The situation with Boykins is the result of Kiki dragging his legs once again, and overpaying to get someone just to have something to show. He did the same thing last summer with Kenyon Martin. Boykins had a terrific season for the Nuggets last year, and his contract is very reasonable. This means that the Nuggets will have no problem trading him.
