Seattle Prepares For Rainy Days

Rick Sund, Seatle General Manager has a tendency to drag negotiations. He has shown it time and time again in the past (i.e. the summer that Rashard Lewis was a free agent), and also this summer. The Sonics negotiated with Ray Allen through the better part last season, until they were finally able to agree on a deal this summer.

Seattle also dragged its feat negotiating with Reggie Evans and Vladimir Radmanovic, forcing both to sign short term deals. Overall, Sund deserves some credit for managing to bring back the core of last year team that was instrumental in making their playoffs run.

In area when teams overpay to get mediocre players, the Sonics have been somewhat successful in resigning their players without breaking the bank. The Sonics also weren?t shay about letting some of their other free agents to walk away without even trying to get something in return, deciding not to mach offers handed to Jerome James and Antonio Daniels who were overpaid by NY and Washington respectively.
