Maddox Drops the Ball
When Ben Roethlisberger went down with an injury in last week?s game versus the San Diego Chargers, the team knew it would have to turn to Tommy Maddox this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. To the delight of the Jaguars, Roethlisberger was not the only key player missing from the Steelers? lineup. Wide receiver, Hines Ward, missed his first game as a pro.
Without Roethlisberger and Ward, the Steelers turned to their running game more so than any other game this season. However, two turnovers by Maddox during overtime sealed Pittsburgh fate and allowed the Jaguars to steal the game.
Maddox fumbled the ball, while his team was in field position to kick a winning field goal. In the next offensive set Maddox threw an interception picked off by Rashean Mathis of Jacksonville, who ran for a touchdown (41-yard return), thereby ending the game.
