Making a Point in LA

One biggest question mark surrounding the 05-06 version of the Los Angeles Clippers is whether they?ll start newly acquired Sam Cassell in place of Shaun Livingston who is entering his second year in the league. On the one hand, Cassell gives the Clippers more experience and savvy at the point. On the other hand, Livingston is the future of the ball club.

I would go with Livingston and have Cassell come off the bench (it?s not like Donald Sterling is in any rush to get anywhere this season). Ever since his days in Huston, Cassell has never played second fiddle to anyone. If the Clippers are hoping that Cassell will serve as a mentor to Livingston, they have got another thing coming.

Cassell has already announced that he will be competing for the starting job in training camp and that he fully expects to start. This does not bode well for Los Angeles, who will have a choice between dealing with the malcontent Cassell all throughout the season, or jeopardize the development of their young point guard.
