Vinatieri Foils Falcons Comeback

Adam Vinatieri has foiled the efforts of the Atlanta Flacons to stage a remarkable comeback. Vinatieri kicked the winning field goal as the teams were tied at 28 a piece in late fourth quarter. The Falcons, who were without the injured Vick, fell behind early on in the game.

Second year quarterback Matt Schaub who started in place of Vick had a strong outing throwing three touchdowns passes. Schaub went 18 out of 34 for 298 yards with no turnovers. Schaub started the game a little rattled, after all Michael Vick is a tough act to follow.

By winning the Patriots avoided losing two games in a row for the first time since the 2002 season. Currently, both teams are at 3-2 with the Patriots standing at the top of the AFC East while the Falcons are at third place in NFC South.
