Detroit Looks For Help From Within
The balance of power has tilted in the direction of the East, as soon as Shaq was traded to the Heat last year. While almost everyone in the east seem to have improved over the summer, the Pistons have stayed put. Dumars was counting on the fact that he would be able to convince Michael Finley to sign with Detroit, but when he chose the Spurs, the Pistons were left empty-handed.
Detroit also has a new head coach in Flip Saunders, whose style of play is very different from the way Detroit has been doing things up until now. One of the secrets to Detroit?s success was Brown?s ability to control Rasheed Wallace. With Brown gone, Wallace might start to act up again which could cost Detroit a hefty price.
Carlos Arroyo will see a lot more minutes this year, given Hunter?s injury. He is a wildcard as far as the Pistons are concerned. As it stands today, he is their best scorer coming off the bench. One thing is for sure, Saunders will give him a lot more freedom than Brown had.
