Dallas Remain Unusually Quiet
Continuing in our countdown to the start of the season, today we?ll discuss the Dallas Mavericks who were very quiet this off-season, which is a bit unusual for Mark Cuban. It came as son surprise that the Mavs have chosen to wave Michael Finley over the summer. Come to think of it, that was the only significant change they have made, which leads me to believe that Cuban has got something up his sleeve.
Even though their defense was somewhat improved last season, the Mavs have to do something to jumpstart their offense, which really hasn?t recovered from the loss of Steve Nash. Erick Dampier signed a huge contract last summer, which he hasn?t lived up to. (What a shocker).
For the Mavs to even make it to the playoffs, Dampier needs to have the kind of season he had in Golden State, when he was playing for a new contract. Jason Terry had his best season by far as a pro. However, his style of play is not suited with the Mavs run and gun, which is the style they excel in.
Devin Harris is the Mavs future at point guard, in fact he was the main reason why Cuban felt comfortable letting Nash go. This tear he needs to get a lot more minutes if the Mavs expect to hand him the reigns anytime soon.
