Wallace Named Player of the Week

Gerald Wallace spent his first three seasons in the NBA sitting on the bench in Sacramento. Everyone knew that this kid had a lot of talent, but when you are playing behind Peja Stojakovic minutes are scares. A year ago, Wallace finally got the opportunity in Charlotte when Bernie Bickerstaff selected him in the expansion daft. This week Wallace was named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 27, becoming the first player in Bobcats? history to receive the honor.

Wallace averaged 22.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting .587 from the field and .429 from the three-point line. He also averaged 2.3 steals and 3.3 blocked shots as he led the Bobcats to a 2-1 week. In the Bobcats? 100-82 victory over the Wizards, Wallace scored 26 points, grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds and made a season-high five blocks.

So far this season, Wallace is averaging 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and is shooting .389 from three-point range. Currently, Wallace ranks third in the league in field goal percentage (.576) and steals per turnover (1.75). Wallace also leads the league in steals (2.63), and is ranked 19th in blocked shots (1.75), but has not played enough games to be ranked. Wallace missed six games prior to last week?s games with a right wrist injury.
