Camby Pulls Through for Denver
Three weeks into the season and there are a lot of questions mark surrounding the Denver Nuggets. Denver is off to a 6-5 start, which some would say it?s disappointing. I personally think that the Nuggets are right where they should be considering that it?s one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the league. Instead of dealing for a shooting guard Kiki settled for Earl Watson which is a nice player, but the Nuggets already had 2 point guards on their roster.
So far the only bright spot for the Nuggets was the play of center Marcus Camby. Camby has been the Nuggets most valuable player this season and has been a consistent rebounding and defensive force in the middle of the Nuggets lineup. I, for one, was skeptical of the contract extension he was given but Marcus has proved me wrong with his play both last year and especially this year. While he has a tendency to get nicked up frequently, he has been as consistent as they come so far this season.
Camby already earned himself Western Conference Player of the Week Honors while averaging over 16 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks per game. With Martin and Nene out, Camby?s presence cannot be understated. If he keeps it up, Camby is a certain All-Star and should be considered for Defensive Player of the Year as well as MVP if he continues to produce at this rate. While he is sure to get hurt, he has been the most valuable player thus far.
