Success Doesn?t Happen Overnight

From hearing sports commentators speak about the Lakers you would think that their season is over. In all actuality, they are not that bad. It?s very hard to build a team in a place like LA or NY because people are impatient. The best way to build a team is through free agency and the draft. The Lakers don?t have the same luxury other teams have when it comes to some grace period as they try to build a contender.

Look at Detroit, it has taken them more than 10 years to repeat as champions. Each year, the Pistons have added more pieces to the puzzle. In Los Angeles, they expect that to happen overnight. The Lakers have some things going for them. On the bright side, it`s only been seven games and this team may have a lot more to offer. The triangle offense is difficult to learn. If a player is thinking too much instead of reacting instinctually, they`re going to struggle.

For those already declaring the season over after the loss to the Grizzlies, in which the Lakers flirted with their lowest point total in history, the actual worst was 70 points back in 2002. That was a year the Lakers were pretty good, though they lost in the second round of the playoffs to the San Antonio Spurs. Remember, good things happen to those who are willing to wait.
