Grace Period is Over

It?s way too early in the season to write a team off. Unfortunately, don?t get a grace period from their fans and their local media. Teams like LA, New York and Philadelphia have to face with heightened expectations, since they come from bigger markets. Such is the case for the Philadelphia 76ers who are 1-3. Philly media has been extremely harsh on the team and the new head coach for their lackluster effort throughout the season.

People need to understand that it sometimes takes time for a team to mesh together, especially when your star players are sidelined during preseason. The 76ers have too much talent not to make it to the playoffs. Things are picking up for Philadelphia who managed to beat the Indiana Pacers in their last game. The early 3 game losing streak followed by a win against an elite team could serve as an inoculation against slumps and malaise in the future.

There are other bright spots for the Sixers. Chris Webber and Allen Iverson showed that they can play effectively together. As they get more time on the court together under Cheeks? system, it will only get better. Another key contributor is Steven Hunter who has shown the ability to block shots and has an above average post game to go with his athleticism.
