Both LA Teams Making Strides

For the longest I can remember, LA hasn?t had two competitive teams. It was either that the Lakers were on top, or that both teams were mediocre at best. This season, it looked like the Clippers have finally solidified themselves as the top team in LA, at least for the first few weeks of the season. Now, both teams seem to be playing very well which is the first time it happens in LA. It`s been an overwhelmingly positive week in Los Angeles as both the Lakers and Clippers won three straight games.

After opening the season poorly, the Lakers started to show signs of improved ball dating back to the beginning of December. They`ve since returned to some level of respectability with a .500 record (9-9). The Clippers also shook off a rough stretch in which they lost three of four, to maintain their Pacific Division lead at 13-5. Other than the Central Division, which as of Friday morning has all five teams with winning records, only the Pacific Division has four teams at .500 or above.

The Pacific Division has proven to be stronger than expected, though the Lakers started poorly, they`re just four games behind the Clippers. Both will need to maintain a high level of winning should they aspire to take the division and ultimately a top three playoff seeding. Can you imagine if both of these teams make it to the playoffs? Better yet, if they meet in the playoffs.
