Knicks Sign Qyntel Woods

Isiah Thomas has been actively perusing a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers for the past month. Thomas is looking to acquire either Darius Miles or Theo Ratlif. However, it seems that talks with Portland have reached an impasse given the Blazers request to receive an expiring contract and one of the Knicks bright young rookies. Unable to reach a deal for the Blazer player of his choice, Thomas has settled for an ex-Blazer, Qyntel Woods.

The versatile small forward has received little playing time ever since arriving to the league. Thomas was looking to add another wing player given that the team is lacking a scorer at the small forward position. When Woods entered the draft some years ago, he was pegged by most experts as a lottery choice. He ended up being selected in the middle of the first round.

The Knicks signed Woods today, filling a roster spot that opened after the team waived Matt Barnes. Woods, a 6-foot-8 forward/guard, played for Miami and Portland over the last three seasons and averaged 3.1 points and 1.7 rebounds.
