Spurs Looking for Berry to Step Up

With Manu Ginobili out of the lineup, the San Antonio Spurs are looking for Brent Berry to step up his game and provide the team with a scoring punch off the bench. Berry hasn?t had played up to his usual level since moving to San Antonio last year. The Spurs hope that with added playing time Berry will capitalize on the opportunity that fell into his lap and make the best of it.

Now Berry has finally got his shot at proving that he is still the electric playmaker that we saw in Settle. However, this is the last way Berry wanted to go about getting the extra playing time. Berry explains, ?Just having the opportunity to play always helps, but at no time do you want to just get minutes to try and find your rhythm. Each time that Pop looks down the bench, he?s got to know that guys are going to go in and do their job?.

Berry has had his share of injuries so far in this young season. A lower back strain that knocked Brent out of several November games is the other end of the pendulum?s stroke. The injury was untimely because Barry was one of the few Spurs who looked pretty good in preseason. He made his 3s at an impressive .464 in 8 exhibition runs and trumped the figure to .571 in the first 3 games of the regular season.
