NFL player committed to his teammates and country

Some guys talk about teamwork and commitment. Bryce Fisher lives those principles. While his Seahawks teammates will go about finding places to live and shop and hang out when the team breaks camp and returns to Kirkland later this month, Fisher will be the one with the additional task of working out arrangements with the National Guard reserve unit in Seattle.

Fisher, who grew up in Renton and attended high school at Seattle Prep, is one of the Seahawks` new free-agent additions to a defense looking for answers. In Fisher, they`ve found a disciplined defensive end who enjoyed a breakout season last year with the St. Louis Rams. They`ve also found a 28-year-old who didn`t take the normal path to the NFL, first having to fulfill a two-year commitment to his country after graduating from the Air Force Academy in 1999. Fisher spent his two years of active duty as a transportation officer at Pope Air Force Base in Fayetteville, N.C., and he`s still a member of the National Guard.

"I`m working on transferring into the reserves out here," Fisher said after a recent Seahawks practice. "Like anybody else in the reserves, I have a commitment every year to meet one weekend a month, two weeks a year. They usually work pretty well with my schedule, since things are kind of hectic for me at times."
