Seattle Storm played New York Liberty

The New York Liberty lead the conference, 5-3, including 2-1 at New York. This is the final game of this year`s two-game series. The Storm won the first one on July 19 in the Key, 87-78, hanging on after most of a 20-point lead slipped away during the final minutes after Lauren Jackson left the game with a mildly sprained ankle.

The Storm`s six-game winning streak ended last Thursday night at Indiana as the Fever jumped to a 16-2 lead and stayed ahead the rest of the way in a 78-68 decision. Seattle was plagued by 17 turnovers, which led to 17 Indiana points. Lauren Jackson had 14 points and nine rebounds for Seattle. After cutting an 11-point deficit to one with 3:24 left, New York yielded 17 points down the stretch and fell short of the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday at the Garden, 72-65. Becky Hammon led the Liberty with 17 points.

This was to be the Storm`s final game against the Eastern Conference. Seattle is 7-4 versus East teams. The Storm are 4-8 on the road. ... Sue Bird picked up a technical foul during the second half of Thursday`s loss at Indiana -- her first as a pro.

Next game will be against the Houston Comets at Seattle on Tuesday.
