The Medicine of Sex

While some people frown upon the act of sex, or disregard its value apart from reproduction, it has been medically proven that sex not only maintains good health, but actually improves one`s physical condition and prevents other conditions from developing. In fact, sex is now being advised as a remedy for myriad problems. The following sections will describe some of the most beneficial aspects of sex in its preservation and improvement of overall health.

Sex Reduces Heart Disease
Having sex in excess of 3 times a week reduces a man`s risk of heart disease and/or stroke by 50 percent.

Sex provides Relief From pain
Pain is directly affected by Endorphins. Before reaching orgasm, levels of the oxytocin hormone increase to 5 times the regular amount, and the increased amount releases additional endorphins. The endorphins alleviate all kinds of pain, including arthritis.

Protection Against Cold and Flu
Having sex about 1 ? 2 times a week increases the levels of immunoglobin A by approximately 30%, which is an essential antibody in the fight against cold and flu. In fact, healthy sex saturates the blood with a range of important antibodies.

Sex is a Form of Physical Exercise
The pulse rate of a sexually excited individual increases from 70 to 150 beats per minute, which is the same as an athlete excerpting their maximum effort, or the muscle efforts of a weight lifter. Having sex once is the equivalent of calories one may lose after running for 15 minutes on a treadmill, and every 30 minutes of sex burns approximately 200 calories. The act of sex allows for muscle contractions of the buttocks, pelvis, thighs, arms, neck, and thorax.

Sex Reduces Depression
The hormone prostaglandin is found only in semen, and can modulate female hormones by being absorbed by the genital tract, thus preventing depression.
