And the Razzies go to Basic Instinct 2

The 27th annual Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzies, took place at the Ivar Theatre in Hollywood on Saturday night, in order to recognize the worst the movie industry had to offer during 2006. As has been the tradition, the nominations were announced one day prior to the Academy Awards nominations, with the award show scheduled one day prior to the Academy Awards ceremony.

In recent years, the organizers have added awards that are for a single year only. Last year`s Most Tiresome Tabloid Targets category was replaced this year with Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment, which "salutes the dearth of quality G and PG-rated movie fare in 2006." Also, this year the category Worst Remake or Sequel was split off into two separate categories. Worst Prequel or Sequel, which went to Basic Instinct 2, and Worst Remake or Rip-off, which went to Little Man, for being a rip-off of the 1954 Bugs Bunny cartoon "Baby Buggy Bunny".

Basic Instinct 2 was the big "winner" of the awards. The movie received the Worst Picture award, Worst Screenplay, as well as the abovementioned Worst Prequel or Sequel award, and Sharon Stone, received the Worst Actress award for her part in the movie. The movie Little Man was also bashed receiving awards for Worst Screen Couple for Shawn Wayans and either Kerry Washington or Marlon Wayans and Worst Actor Award for Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans, as well as, the Worst Remake or Rip-off award.
