Ben Stiller and Will Smith Dominate Box-Offices
Ben Stiller and Will Smith dominated the North American box-offices for two weeks in a row, with their movies: "Night at the Museum" and "The Pursuit of Happiness." Generally speaking, the intake during New Year`s has been grater than that of Christmas, a week earlier. "Night at the Museum", situated at first place, has drawn $116.9 million, during its first two weeks. "The Pursuit of Happiness" remained at second place, with $98.4 million made by its third week and is on its way to becoming Smith`s 10th movie to make over $100 million.
"Dream Girls" ended its first week at third place. The movie is a musical loosely based on the story of the Supremes, jumped 4 places with $15 million, even though it is only shown at 852 theaters. For comparison, "Night at the Museum" and "The Pursuit of Happiness" are showing in 3,768 and 2870 theaters, respectively. Up to now the film has made $38.5 million.
The family film, "Charlotte`s Web" ranked fourth, with $12 million, a bit more than it operned with last week, $11.5 million. The film made $52.9 million, up to now. Sylvester Stallone lost two places with his film "Rocky Balboa" and is now fifth with $11.4 million end then end of its second week, and $48.8 million altogether. Guillermo del Toro`s "Pan`s Labyrinth" was launched for limited distribution. The film takes place after the Spanish Civil War. The film grossed nearly $600 thousand in only 17 theaters.
