McCartney Paintings Theft Turns out to be a Domestic Issue
This week saw yet another twist in McCartney-Mills divorce saga after police were called to the couple?s home in England. This time, it was Heather Mills who made the phone call. She reported that valuable paintings had been removed from the premises of their country estate and she wanted police intervention. Upon arrival, the police officials investigated the matter further, only to determine that they were faced with a domestic matter between Mills and her estranged husband, former Beatles icon, Sir Paul McCartney. ?It was found to be a civil matter between her and her husband. There?s been no theft," a police spokesman said.
It turns out that, as a result of the ongoing dispute over money and property in the divorce process between the two, Paul McCartney removed the paintings ? including a Renoir and a Picasso ? valued at $19.5 million and subsequently changed the security codes on the estate. He then informed his wife by text message regarding what he had done. Heather, furious for being hoodwinked, called the police. The couple have been married for four years and started divorce proceedings in May 2006. They share a 3-year-old daughter, Beatrice.
Many accuse Heather Mills ? a former model ? of being a gold digger and of marrying McCartney, who is many years her senior, for his money only. The singer is worth millions of dollars because of the royalties that he receives from his glory days as part of the Beatles foursome and his own successful independent music career. Mills has countered these claims and says that most of her money is regularly donated to charity.
