New India Jones Film in Production


The Hollywood director and screenplay writer George Lucas announced that the next film in the Indiana Jones series is in early stages of production and is expected to be released by May 21st 2008. Lucas added that he had written the screenplay with Steven Spielberg and that this film will be the best in the series. Harrison Ford, who is now 64-years-old, will play Dr. Jones, he is also the one, who convinced the Lucas-Shpielberg duo to return to the series after 18 years have passed since the last film in the series, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The original Indian Jones trilogy was complete in the 80s. The first film in the series was Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark which appeared in cinemas in 1981. Second to appear was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, in 1984. And last to appear was Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, in 1989. Lucas said that the screenplay for this film has been in development for more than a decade.

The series had also included a television series, computer games, lunch boxes and other merchandise. The next film Indiana Jones and the Ravages of Time, the aging Ford will star alongside Natalie Portman, Karen Allen and Sean Connery. Although Sean Connery, who had played Jones` father, Dr. Henry Jones Sr. in the series said that he hasn`t been offered a part so that the films crew is yet to be settled.
