Billy Joel to Release New Pop Single
Billy Joel will release a new pop single, the first in 14 years, in the upcoming month, the magazine NME reported. The singer-pianist, who in the past had a long list of hits and chart breakers, had turned to classical music in recent years and has focused himself on writing long compositions. Joel did continue to perform his known songs but hasn`t written any new ones. Now he has returned with All My Life, which he has dedicated to his new wife, Katie Lee Joel.
Apparently, Joel will release his song on the internet before it is released to record stores and radio stations. The song will be available to hear or purchase as of February 7 on People magazine`s website and as of February 20 it will also be available on ITunes. In addition Joel is to sing the National Anthem at this year`s Super Ball. The game will take place February 4, in Jacksonville, Florida. 3 days after the game Joel will go on a cross-America tour, with the first stop being a radio station in Jacksonville.
Joel recorded many popular hit songs and albums from 1973, beginning with the single Piano Man, to his retirement from recording pop music in 1993. He is one of the very few rock or even pop artists to have Top 10 hits in the `70s, `80s, and `90s. A six-time Grammy Award winner, he has sold in excess of 100 million records worldwide and is the sixth best selling artist in the United States. Joel was inducted into the Songwriter`s Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Long Island Music Hall of Fame.
