Police reunite at Grammys


The Police, the British band which was one of the biggest rock n` roll bands in the world until it broke up in 1984, will reunite fro the opening act of the 49th Grammy awards, the New York Times reported Tuesday. The awards ceremony set to take place February 11 is expected to include other recording artists such as: Christina Aguilera, Beyonc?, Madonna, Mary J. Blige, Dixie Chicks, Gnarls Barkley, John Legend John Mayer and Corinne Bailey Rae, Ludacris, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Justin Timberlake and Carrie Underwood.

The expected band`s expected performance will be the first since the band reunited for a concert in 2003, raises the expectations that the band will reunite to go on tour. The band thus joins a long list of bands that are expected to reunite in order to appear in the ceremony, including Van Halen and Rage against the Machine.

The Police, which are best known for their hits: Message in a Bottle and Roxanne, have taken home 5 Grammy awards in the past, but have never before had a performance during the ceremony. The concert is planned for CBS`s Sunday night prime time, which will be broadcasted live from Los Angeles, 30 years after the release of the band`s d?but single, Fall out. "We started 30 years ago so it would be nice to do something to celebrate," Sting said. "We don`t quite know what, but we`re talking about it." Since the band broke up in 1984, Sting has gone to lead a successful solo career. His last tour together with Annie Lennox grossed $50 million.
