Rolling Stones Take on the US
Yes, they are ancient, but the Rolling Stones are in great shape these days. On Wednesday, 30 miles south of Boston, some 40,000 fans gathered to watch the band kick off their 19-show North American tour, continuing the `A Bigger Bang` journey it began in the fall of 2005. After an injury infested year which included Keith Richards falling off a tree in Fiji, Mick Jagger developing laryngitis, guitarist Howard being admitted to a London Rehabilitation clinic for alcohol abuse and drummer Watts` cancer diagnosis, the band is back and bouncing around the stage as if they were 50 years old, tops.
The band gave an energetic performance at their first stop in Foxborough, Massachusetts and they plan to rock all the way back to England, with stops planned in the New York area, Los Angeles and Chicago. The first performance gave fans a chance to hear the band`s best-known hits, including "Satisfaction," "Sympathy for the Devil" and "Paint it Black," as well as newer numbers "Rough Justice" and "Streets of Love" from their 2005 album "A Bigger Bang." The Stones` tour wraps up Nov. 18 in L.A. and the group is considering some European dates for 2007.
