Microsoft to Launch `Soapbox`
Microsoft is bidding to take over some territory it carelessly forget to tend to recently and has decided to enter YouTube land and launch its own video sharing version. The new Microsoft Soapbox on MSN Video site will try to live up to uploaders expectations and provide something we haven`t seen yet. The thing is, it seems that we have seen it all but have trouble seeing anything, with Google video, Yahoo video and Revver crowding the net. The company is hoping that the 465 million visitors a year they have on MSN will do the trick.
The Microsoft service will be integrated with Windows live messenger and will allow users to embed links to videos in instant messages as well as on their Blogs located on Windows Live Spaces. The service will feature user ratings, comments and RSS feeds along with a 100 megabyte upload limit. In addition, users will be able to paste the soapbox player directly on to their website or Blog. Microsoft is hoping that although YouTube has a lead in this specific market, their competitive and innovative attitude will get them going in the right direction.
