R.E.M Light up Music Hall

The timeless R.EM band gave 1600 spectators a night to remember. On Saturday night, the four original members of the group, Michael Stipe, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Bill Berry came together for a rare performance as they were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. The World Congress Center viewers were definitely in for a treat as Berry was once again on the drums, giving new life to songs like `Begin the Begin`, `Losing My Religion` and `Man on the Moon`. He left the band after suffering a brain aneurysm onstage in 1995 and although the band has been on tour since then, they never named an official drummer.

Also inducted Saturday were Allman Brothers founder Gregg Allman, writer-producers Dallas Austin and Jermaine Dupri, and the late Felice Bryant. Bryant, along with husband Boudleaux Bryant, who wrote country and rock standards including "Rocky Top," "Wake Up Little Susie" and "Love Hurts". Other members of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, located about an hour south of Atlanta in Macon, Ga., include Ray Charles, Little Richard, Travis Tritt, Trisha Yearwood and the Indigo Girls.
