Whitney`s Prerogative

Whitney Houston, one of the best selling singers in history is filing for a legal separation from hubbie Bobby Brown. After 14 years is seems as if the couple`s rocky marriage is coming to an end. Houston, 43, asked that she be granted custody of the couple`s 13 year old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and the Brown be allowed visitation rights. She asked that property rights be determined later.

Brown`s star was shining mainly in the 90`s, after gaining recognition as a member of the boy band `New Edition`, and later on as a solo artist with such hits as `My Prerogative` and `Every Little Step`. He also has known years of run-ins with the law, and has been arrested numerous times for drugs and alcohol, and once for hitting his wife, while Houston`s own battles with substance abuse sullied her image.

The couple has separated in the past, but their marriage endured, despite rumors and speculation. Houston wishes to clarify that she is not seeking divorce, or a divorce petition.
