The return of Cat Stevens
The album is out and not a minute too soon. Yusuf Islam, or the artist formerly known as cat Stevens will release a much anticipated album, 28 years after his latest one. He began performing under the name Steve Adams in 1965 and during the peak of his musical career in the 1970`s, had eight consecutive gold albums. He was famous worldwide with an additional 10 hit singles in the UK and 14 in the US.
Once the universe became too much of a wild world in his mind, he retired from the music industry after accepting the faith of Islam. He married, had five children and founded a Muslim school in London. His reputation, ever since he was a vocal opponent of the war in Iraq, has been hurt, and he is now on the US government security watch list and is barred from entering the US.
The new album`s release comes after the 58 year old singer is said to "feel right about making music and singing about life in this fragile world again". The album, named "An other Cup" is set for release in November.
