Oprah Winfrey Interviews Madonna on Show
Madonna, the 48-year-old singer, musical artist and entertainment favorite, will appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show on Wednesday to defend her recent adoption of a Malawian boy. Madonna, who has two children of her own, will respond to claims by the boy?s father that he never truly meant to give up his son, David. The boy is 13 months old.
The father, Yohane Banda, who is illiterate in the English language, claims he understood that his son was going to be taken care of by a ?nice Christian lady? from the West until he finished school, and then be brought back to his father and community in Malawi. ?He is my son and a son of my village here, and when he has completed his education outside Malawi I hope that he will return here to work with me in our fields,? said Banda. Going on a major entertainment show, Madonna will speak out with her side of the story.
Madonna?s decision to adopt David has cause great controversy in some areas of the US. Many feel that it is unfair that celebrities and entertainment icons who adopt children do so in record time, but that ?regular? people who wish to adopt must wait months, and even years, to do so. Others commend her on her adoption, but do not understand why she had to go to Africa to adopt a child when there are so many children waiting to be part of loving homes in North America. Now Madonna will explain it all on Oprah?s show.
