Foxy Brown Receives 3 Years Probation for Nail Salon Fight
Rapper and entertainment star Foxy Brown was sentenced on Tuesday to receive three years probation for a fight which took place in a New York nail salon with two employees. The fight, which ended in an assault case which made numerous headlines and dragged on for more than two years, has finally culminated with this sentencing. Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, attempted to withdraw her guilty plea, but a Manhattan judge stated that he found the agreement legitimate and forced the sentence.
?The purpose of a re-argument is not to let the parties go over issues that have already been decided,? said Judge Melissa C. Jackson. She finally stated this after listening to last minute pleas from the entertainment icon and her attorney. Jackson also warned Brown that if she did not abide by the conditions of the probation, the rapper would face a possible sentence of one year in jail.
During the course of the trial, Brown hired three different attorneys. She tried once before to change her guilty plea. She was also threatened with jail time for missing a court appearance on Monday. An earlier effort to reach a plea bargain last December had also not taken place, Brown pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault charges because of an argument over payment for a manicure at Bloomie Nails in August. She admitted to kicking one employee and smacking a second worker in the face on August 29th, 2004. Brown, 26, whose albums include ?Chyna Doll? and ?Ill Na Na?, is known for her revealing outfits and crude lyrics. Under the terms of the plea bargain, she is also required to take anger management classes
