Anna Nicole Smith Refuses Paternity Test for her Child

If this had been a script for a part played by Anna Nicole Smith, critics would have said it was too far fetched. But that is exactly how events in the life of this reality TV show actress are unfolding. In the past few months, Anna Nicole Smith gave birth to a baby girl, buried her only other child three days later and is now embroiled in a bitter dispute with her ex-boyfriend who is demanding that she submit her infant daughter for a paternity test.

Six weeks ago, Anna Nicole Smith gave birth to a baby girl in the Bahamas where she moved to during her pregnancy. Three days later, after visiting his mother in hospital, 20-year old Daniel Smith collapsed in his hotel room and died from causes that have not yet fully been disclosed. Anna Nicole Smith is now waiting to see whether Bahamas authorities will decide on a jury inquest into his death.

Smith is also facing a lawsuit filed by her ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, who is seeking a court order that may force her to bring the infant child, named Danielynn Hope Marshall Stern, back to California to undertake a DNA test. Thus far, Smith has refused to consider his request, stating that she has no intention of accommodating Birkhead?s wishes and that the father of her child is her companion, Howard K. Stern. If Birkhead is indeed the father, he could be granted visitation and custody rights, as well as a generous child support allowance.
