Models Too Thin According to Claudia Schiffer

According to supermodel Claudia Schiffer, today?s models are just too darn thin. The German superstar and entertainment icon may herself be considered on the skinny side, but that doesn?t stop her from firmly believing that models need to stop having their bones stick out and gain some much-needed weight. The 36-year-old model and mother of two says that being a super-thin model ?doesn?t really look good anymore.?

?Fashion looks good on thin models, but when you look at today?s models you cannot help but think there is something wrong. They are way too thin. It is only bones that stick out. Models have always been thin. But today, they are even thinner, which is unbelievable,? said Schiffer. Recently, siding with Schiffer?s comments, and that of many entertainment experts in the fashion business, Madrid and its runway shows asked models below a certain weight to simply not enter its fashion show. Models with a body mass index of less than 18 were banned.

To many, Schiffer?s words come as a comfort, hearing a supermodel say that models on the runway and in the magazines should put on more weight in order to look not overweight, but healthy. Bones and skin are simply not cutting it anymore in the world of entertainment, and the sickly look is quickly fading itself out of the fashion industry. The more models who speak up about underweight models and how the image is detrimental to women and young girls around the world, the more awareness and possible action can occur to help put a stop to this dying trend.
