McCartney Goes for Trademark
Beatles legend Paul McCartney is looking to register his name as a trademark in order to achieve a number of goals. McCartney would like to attach his name to his own lines of vegetarian food and apparel, namely bathing suits, dressing-gowns, bathrobes, sportswear, swimwear, overalls, fancy dress, hosiery and waistcoats.
The request has been made by McCartney`s company, MPL Communications Ltd, and has been dubbed as a "purely defensive" move, which would also give the longtime vegetarian, a legitimization to lend his name to non-veggie items, such as meat, fish and poultry, a move that the rocker`s spokesman called "purely defensive."
Once the trademark is granted in his name, McCartney can take action to preventing others using identical, or even similar, names and logos. His fashion designer daughter Stella McCartney trademarked her eponymous brand name ages ago. Those who choose to object to McCartney`s latest business aspirations have three months to file complaints with the Trademarks Registry before a judge decides whether to grant the McCartney`s application
