Runaway Bride: The Lawsuit

The runaway bride is back and now with much less drama and police sirens. For those out of the loop concerning the bride, back in 2005 Jennifer Wilbanks disappeared days before her and her fianc?e`s planned wedding, sparking a 3-day state-wide search involving hundreds of police and volunteers. She finally turned up after calling her fianc?e, only to claim that she had been abducted and sexually assaulted. It was understood later on that she was suffering from cold feet, and pleaded no contest to telling police a phony story.

This story ended up as a book, which is causing further problems for the former engaged couple. Wilbanks is seeking $250,000 as her share of a home she says John C. Mason purchased with proceeds from $500,000 they received for selling their story to Regan Media in New York. The lawsuit alleges Mason later evicted her from the house.

Wilbanks` lawsuit follows a dispute in recent months over personal items, such as a new vacuum cleaner, a ladder, a gold-colored sofa and various wedding shower gifts, that she claims ex- fianc?e John C. Mason never returned.
