MySpace for Darfur

Rock stars will come together for a cause, putting on more than 20 Rock for Darfur concerts across North America. The profits from the shows are an effort organized by the popular online community giant `MySpace`, which will donate portions of ticket proceeds to Oxfam?s relief efforts in Sudan and neighboring Chad. Bands participating in the Rock for Darfur campaign represent all genres including pop, rock, country and reggae and will be performing in all corners of the country.

The concerts will take place on October 21st and will feature bands such as The Fray, TV on the Radio, +44, Secret Machines, Atreyu, Slightly Stoopid, Alice in Chains, Ziggy Marley, Teddy Geiger, Insane Clown Posse, Jars of Clay, Jamie Cullum and more. Chris DeWolfe, CEO of MySpace who promotes many bands on the site, had this to say of his company`s philanthropic efforts: " The crisis in Darfur is a global concern and as a global community we have a responsibility to take action. MySpace?s reach gives us an extraordinary opportunity to spread the word and empower individuals to help address the horrors in Darfur.?

The shows will mainly benefit the people of Darfur, in the western region of Sudan. Over the last three years, inter-tribal warfare has killed over 400,000 and left 2.6 million people living in refugee camp and the humanitarian crisis continues to escalate daily.
