Downey to Play Iron Man
Marvel Entertainment`s first feature film, will be based on none other than the 1960`s hero Iron Man. Back then, the story involved a billionaire industrialist names Tony Stark, who found himself a prisoner of the Viet Cong after being kidnapped and forced to create a deadly weapon. But Stark, using ingenuity and intelligence, thwarts their plan and builds a high tech suit of armor and escapes from his captors.
Robert Downey Jr. is set to play Stark on the $100 billion budget movie, which will be directed by Jon Favreau. The movie, which will start filming this upcoming February, will be produced independently by Marvel Entertainment, which previously licensed its characters, such as "Spider-Man" and "X-Men," to other studios.
President of Marvel Entertainment, Kevin Feige, believes his studio`s characters bring something different to the screen: "The Marvel characters are not just about how high they jump or how fast they fly, they`re about their character flaws. They`re about their inner demons. They`re about the struggles that they go through between being a man and being a hero."
