Mona Lisa finally Pregnant

A French expert has revealed a that Mona Lisa, wife of Florentine merchant Francesco del Giocondo, was most likely pregnant or had recently given birth when she posed for Leonardo De Vinci`s Painting. A laser scanning uncovered a fine gauze veil Mona Lisa was wearing on her dress. This was typical attire for either soon to be, or new mothers at the time.

As the painting aged, the veil had darkened. The thick and dark varnish on the work, together with decades of grime made it hard even to know what color her dress is, it has been described as black, brown and green. A piece of fabric draped on her shoulder was sometimes interpreted as a shawl or a scarf.

According to Menu, chief of the research department at the French Museums` Center for Research and Restoration, should it be proven without a doubt that the Mona Lisa was in fact wearing the veil, it could confirm art historians` hypothesis that Giocondo asked for a painting of his wife to celebrate the birth of his second son.
