?Im Not a Gold Digger,? Says Heather Mills
What started off as the marriage of the decade has turned into a mud-slinging public fight between two celebrities ? Beatles megastar, Paul McCartney and his model wife, Heather Mills. Trying to garner support against an outpouring of public disdain towards her, Heather Mills has stated that she is not a gold digger and did not, contrary to popular belief, marry McCartney for his money. ?If I was a gold digger, I would have a lot of money in my bank account,? she has reportedly said.
The 38 year old Mills married McCartney not long after he lost his beloved, long-time wife and partner, Linda to cancer. Although the two initially seemed very happy together, going on to having a daugther, Beatrice, rumors soon started circulating that their relationship was on the rocks. At first, the couple denied the rumors, however it soon became clear that things were not turning out as they had hoped when news of arguments and disagreements started to become public. Mills filed for the divorce in July of this year.
Both Mills and McCartney have loyal followers slinging mud at each other?s camps. Mills? friends and family blame McCartney for domineering Heather and there was even talk of domestic abuse. McCartney fans, on the other hand, feel that Mills married the multi-millionaire for his money alone, knowing that his fortune from Beatles royalites was a wonderful drawcard to a shared life together. Mills has continuously denied these charges and says that 85% of her income goes to charity.
