Australian Animation Film Smashes the Box Office

Move over 007! Make way for the penguins! An Australian animated muscial comedy has taken the movie world by storm and knocked other top-rated films, including the new James Bond movie, ?Casino Royal?, off the number one spot. Directed by Australian, George Miller, the new movie, ?Happy Feet? earned over Australian $55-million at the box offices in Canada and the United States ? placing it in the top film slot.

?Happy Feet? tells the story of a tone deaf penguin named Mumble who has an intense desire to dance. Unfortunately, Mumble is considered a freak by his fellow-penguins because he cannot sing like them. The movie takes viewers through Mumble?s touching, funny and thought-provoking journey of self discovery. Music plays a big part in the movie, with song and dance repetoirs by talented penguins one of its most appealing aspects.

This is the first time that Australia has produced a full-length animated movie and, by the looks of it, has been extremely successful. One of the reasons that the film is so appealing is that it has some of the industry?s biggest names attached to it. Nicole Kidman, Steve Irwin and Robin Williams are just some of Hollywood?s stars who feature as voiced characters. The part of Mumble is voiced by ?Lord of the Rings? star, Elijah Woods.
