Mixed Reactions to Michael Jackson?s World Music Awards Performance
The World Music Awards in London was supposed to be Michael Jackson?s sendoff into the entertainment world after several years of recluse. For months, the media have been speculating about Jackson?s part in the show and fans used every means they had to buy tickets for the awards that were held at Earl?s Court. However, after the show, many fans have expressed extreme disappointment and some are even demanding a refund.
Some audience members, who spent up to 200 GB Pounds on a ticket, just to see Jackson perform live, said that his performance was ? at best ? lukewarm, while others said that it was a huge-anticlimax. Many say that they were led to believe that Jackson would perform his hit song, Thriller. However, singer, Chris Brown, performed that song. Instead, Jackson sang just a few lines of another of his hits, ?We are the World? and then left the stage. Organizers of the show claim that the performance was cut short because of a noise curfew, however, Earl?s Court officials deny that the show was cut short.
Not all fans were critical about Jackson?s part in the show. Many people expressed satisfaction with the way that the superstar performed, saying that they hadn?t expected him to take part in the show at all and that his number ? however short ? was a bonus. Michael Jackson is hoping to make a comeback to show business after having lived in the Middle East for a while now.
