TomKat Finally Ties the Knot

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, the darlings of Hollywood, married in the magical lakeside town of Bracciona, Italy, over the weekend. The couple, surrounded by close family and the who?s-who of the celebrity world, exchanged vows in a Scientology ceremony which was performed by a special minister. Among the 150 guests was the couple?s infant daughter, Suri, who has been the focus of media attention since her birth.

Rumors of the impending marriage started making the rounds a couple of weeks ago and were confirmed when Cruise and Holmes flew into Italy last week. The wedding drew thousands of media people to Bracciona and around the 15th Century castle where the ceremony took place. Rome airport was bustling with news reporters as the top names in the entertainment world, including Brooke Shields, Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez, flew into the country to attend the wedding.

The couple?s close friend, Italian designer Giorgio Armani designed their clothing, including a hand-sewn suit for Tom Cruise and a stunning off-the-shoulder white gown for Katie Holmes. Even baby Suri wore a designer frock. Guests at the ceremony described a magical location, decorated very simply with white flowers and 6000 glittering candles. The couple was married in a converted stable under an awning. David Miscavige, Cruise?s best friend was best man, while Katie?s sister, Nancy, served as matron of honor. Thousands of fans waited for hours to get a glimpse of the newly weds or some of the celebrities who attended the wedding.
