New ?Doors? Memoir Remembers Jim Morrison
An authorized memoir about the rock band, ?The Doors? was released this week and contributors to this book include the three surviving members of the band and several family members of the band singer, the late Jim Morrison. Despite the fact that Morrison practically cut his family off from his life during his brilliant career, their written contributions in the memoir, ?The Doors by the Doors? are nevertheless touching.
George Morrison, Jim?s father, and a retired naval admiral seems to have put aside the fact that his son once commented that his family was dead and wrote insulting lyrics about them in his song. In the memoir, he wrote: ?We look back on him with great delight ... The fact that he`s dead is unfortunate but looking back on his life it`s a very pleasant thought?. Morrison?s siblings, Andy and Anne also recalled how their brother kept their mother from visiting him at his concerts and concluded that his behavior was meant to shield his family from his overwhelming fame and the price that comes with it.
Morrison died in 1971 from a heart attack and he is buried in France alongside some of history?s greatest personalities, including Edith Piaf, the author Oscar Wilde and composer, Frederic Chopin. His family pays the Parisian authorities to take care of his grave, which has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in the land.
